2012 Federal and Provincial Funding Programs for Commercialization Projects
Durham College is here to help solve technology, productivity, and social innovation issues! They can match you with teams of professors and students and seek funding from various government agencies to share the costs for eligible projects. Teams work to create solutions in the areas of:
- Proof of concept
- Product and process improvement;
- Engineering design;
- Technology development (including information technology);
- Piloting and demonstration;
- Product testing; and,
- Social, health and quality of life innovation (new for 2012)
Durham College can work with small to medium sized business (SMEs) from one to 1,000 employees, and new for 2012, certain types of non-profit organizations, so long as the projects can demonstrate positive economic impact or quality of life improvements.
Depending upon eligibility and the specific funding programs, Durham College can match 1:1 the project contributions to a maximum of $100,000 : $100,000, double the maximum of 2011, but it is expected that most projects will be in the $10,000 - $50,000 range. The business / organization contribution can be a cash investment or an in-kind, such as the time of their own staff. And the business / organization may keep their rights to the Intellectual Property developed during the projects.
This program is clearly a triple win; a win for the business / organization, a win for Durham College, and a win for Ontario.
