Just Released...Pickering's Measuring Sustainability Report 2.0

Pickering has just released the second version of its comprehensive and groundbreaking Measuring Sustainability Report.

The first Report released in 2010 generated a meaningful dialogue with residents, businesses and other stakeholders.  As a result, the City initiated further technical review, analysis of the original indicators, and carried out a community survey to glean more insight into attitudes towards sustainability and individual household actions.

As part of the additional work, the list of sustainability measures was enhanced, and data was collected on a total of 55 sustainability indicators that were grouped into 5 sections: Healthy Environment; Healthy Economy; Healthy Society; Responsible Development; and Responsible Consumption. Having reliable data on 55 indicators of sustainability gives us an excellent baseline from which to measure progress over time. We will now start to set targets for these indicators, and develop action plans that move us toward achieving our goals.
